‘YOUR LOVE IS MAGIC. IT DOES MAGICAL THINGS TO PEOPLE”

“Part howl of rage, part redemption song, Daisy-May Hudson’s extraordinary feature debut is vibrant and moving”

“From Ken Loach to Andrea Arnold and Clio Barnard, British film-makers have always done this sort of realism well. Daisy-May Hudson, new kid on the block, shows in Lollipop that she can does it better than most”

“Superbly acted and simmering with righteous anger, Hudson brings a stinging authenticity that is drawn from her own personal experience.”

Lollipop leaves you with a sense of hope. It’s so involving that it’d be easy to watch without realising the most unusual thing about it: from officials to shopkeepers, every single adult character is played by a woman.”

A Note from the Writer/Director: A film created with and about the power of sisterhood and our capacity for joy even in the hardest times. The film was a powerful process of alchemy with much of the cast coming from the lived experience the film depicts and for Daisy-May was as much about the process of creation as it was about the final film. Through the act of telling our stories, we weaved the energies together of sacred intention alchemising our shared feminine wounds and the wounds of our ancestors into love, joy, community and compassion.

This is the first ever fiction trauma-informed production. The production was supported by Trauma-Consultant Maria Takaendisa.

BAFTA Nominated Casting Director Lucy Pardee says ““I was drawn to working with Daisy-May because she is led by the heart and tells difficult stories with empathy and love. ‘Lollipop’ was a joy to cast. We brought together experienced actors and first timers, many of whom have lived experience of the stories we were telling. Nowhere was the collaboration more joyful than with Posy and Idil. Posy, an experienced actor long overdue the break she deserves, and Idil, a complete first timer, brave enough to step into the opportunity and make it her own.”
