Trauma-Informed Storytelling rooted in Lived Experience Creating connection, Transformation & CULTURAL IMPACT

My BIFA & Grierson-nominated debut documentary Half Way, based on my own experience of homelessness, showed me first-hand the transformative power of storytelling—how our lived experiences, when held with care, can become something meaningful not only for ourselves, but for others and the wider world.

Over the past decade, I’ve developed a distinct approach to storytelling rooted in lived experience—one that is trauma-informed, co-creative, and grounded in integrity. My work focuses not just on the stories we tell, but most importantly how these stories are held, shaped, and experienced by every person involved - especially those sharing their lived experience.

I work with filmmakers, production companies, broadcasters, NGOs and organisations to create processes where lived experience can be shared safely, ethically, and with dignity—supporting storytelling that is both responsible and deeply impactful. At the heart of my work is a belief that when stories are held with care, they don’t just inform—they connect, transform, and create meaningful change.

At a time when audiences are seeking authenticity and truth, how our stories are told matters more than ever. When done with care, storytelling becomes not only more ethical, but incredibly empowering - creating deeper connection, stronger engagement, and lasting impact.

Authenticity isn’t just a word, it is built from intention and every choice in our storytelling processes. We do it because it’s the only way we should be telling stories.
